Guides
Guides
Most software cost content online is either a vendor's marketing page dressed up as a guide, or a range so wide it tells you nothing. We publish real UK cost bands, broken down by what actually drives the number, because the buyers we work with need a figure to take into a budget conversation before they can commit to a discovery sprint.
These guides describe what we see across our own projects and the market we sell into: consultancy day rates, team shapes, and the compliance and integration work that a headline "from £X" quote usually hides. They are indicative bands, not quotes — every real estimate comes out of a discovery and scoping sprint, where we look at your actual systems and data.
Six guides
Cost, decision and template guides
Three are cost guides for the builds we are asked about most often. Two are decision guides for the choice you usually have to make before you ever ask for a cost. One is a template — the only asset on this site that sits behind a form, because it is long enough that a download is genuinely more useful than a web page.
Cost guide
Custom CRM development cost
What a bespoke CRM actually costs in the UK, from a single-team £120k build to a multi-entity £400k+ platform, and what drives the difference.
Cost guide
Patient portal development cost
Cost ranges for NHS-facing patient portals, covering EMIS Web and SystmOne integration, DSPT, clinical safety cases and information governance.
Cost guide
Energy broker CRM cost
What it costs to build a broker CRM around MPAN and MPRN site hierarchies, supplier price feeds, LOA workflow and commission reconciliation.
Decision guide
Build vs buy: custom CRM
A structured way to decide between a configured off-the-shelf CRM and a bespoke build, with the total-cost-of-ownership questions procurement usually skips.
Decision guide
Legacy system migration
How to plan a migration off an unsupported estate without a big-bang cutover: sequencing, data migration risk, and running two systems in parallel.
Gated template
Software RFP template
A structured request-for-proposal template for a custom software build, covering scope, integration inventory, evaluation criteria and commercial terms.
How to use these
Bands, not quotes
Every cost guide sets out a range, the drivers that move a project towards the low or high end of it, and worked examples at three budget levels so you can see what each figure actually buys. None of it substitutes for an estimate against your own systems and data — it exists so you arrive at that conversation with a realistic starting number rather than a guess.
If your project spans more than one of these areas — a CRM that also needs a patient-facing portal, or a broker platform that needs a legacy migration alongside it — the ranges are not additive in a simple sum. Shared infrastructure, a single integration layer and one delivery team usually bring a combined build in below the total of two separate ranges. That is exactly the kind of scoping question a discovery sprint answers.
